Africa's Biggest Festival ‘Gidi Festival’ Returns! Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade to Headline

Africa's biggest festival ‘Gidi Festival’ returns for its third year. The annual festival bought to you by Eclipse Live Africa is a one-day beach festival with day activities ranging from beach sports headed by celebrity team captains, to tasting the very best of African dishes at the food court, and of course live music from some of Africa's best artists.

Held at Eko Atlantic Beach in Lagos, Nigeria ‘Gidi Festival’ has seen acts from across the African continent hit the stage including: Ice Prince, Burna Boy, Falz from Nigeria, Tanzania's Vanessa Mdee, Kenya's Victoria Kimani and Ghana's EL and Efya to mention.

The third edition is projected to clock in 8,000 festival goers whilst the previous years have seen an attendance of 3,500 (2014) and 5,000 (2015) attendees.

Speaking on the third edition of ‘Gidi Festival’, founder Chin Okeke says, “we are really excited to be back this year, having learned a lot from previous editions. We genuinely feel this one is going to put us on the global festival map and show the world that Lagos is the continent's melting pot for music and culture.” He went on to say, “it's about curating an experience for our people so there are some exciting upgrades that will surprise our guests!”

New Video: MAVINS - Dorobucci

Last week the MAVINS unveiled their highly-anticipated to their single ‘Dorobucci’. Led by Don Jazzy, the single features Reekado Banks, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, Di'Ja and D'Prince.

Shot on location in South Africa, the Nick Molotov-directed visuals captures each artists definition of the word ‘Dorobucci’ and even features a cameo appearance of the winner of the Channel O MAVIN super-fan competition.

[Trailer] - New Video: MAVINS - Dorobucci

Jam-packed into 16 seconds is the official trailer to the highly-anticipated music video to ‘Dorobucci’, from the MAVINS.

The music video sees Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, D'Prince, Korede Bello, Di'Ja and Reekado Banks all appear in the Nick Roux-directed clip set to premiere on Channel O Africa on July 22 at 12noon (Nigerian time). 

Shot in South Africa, head boss of The MAVINS took to his Instagram page to announce the premiere of the video with the caption stating: "#DoroAnnouncement The official video for TheMegaSuper hit record #Dorobucci premieres tomorrow on @ChanelOAfrica at 12:00pm NG time. Let's go!!! #MAVIN #323 #WeUp".

The song on it's own is huge, from seeing people make up their own dance moves to it, and doing their own covers - a contestant who auditioned on the latest season of Project Fame West even done his own rendition of the song, which made it's way around social media within hours since it hit the web - watch HERE.

New Video: Tiwa Savage - Wanted

I know for a fact that we all never saw this one coming. At the wee hours of this morning singer Tiwa Savage unveiled the video to her brand new single ‘Wanted’, and oh boy has it bought a lot of talk.

Coming out of her shell and getting her sexy on, the newly wed shot the new video to ‘Wanted’ a few weeks back on her trip to London. Wearing a brown sheer one piece, looking very close to her skin complexion - Tiwa has had a lot of people talking about the Moe Musa-directed cut. 

Now I love Tiwa Savage, but what is this? Yes, she's getting her sexy on - and all of the above. But you can get your sexy on and not have it to look forced. Personally, it's uncomfortable to watch and she looks uncomfortable also. I guess this is just the side of Tiwa Savage that we're all the way used to seeing on our TV screens.

Though it's a great video - I'm still just trying to understand the route of which she's trying to take. And what the heck she's gonna bring out next, because this one is surely something.

New Video: Patoranking - Girlie O (Remix) ft. Tiwa Savage

Not one part of this music video makes sense and it's such a damn shame!

Patoranking has unveiled the visuals to his newly released remix to ‘Girlie O’ featuring Tiwa Savage. 

Tiwa who holds it down for the ladies as always is seen with a different swag and approach in the new video. Channelling her inner bad gal, Tiwa is seen wearing hot pants, a black leather biker jacket, a lumberjack tied around her waist and a whole new hairstyle as she rocks out in her scenes in the video, as seen below. 

With a song that's so much of a tune like this - it's disappointing to see a music video that's so boring and makes you dizzy most times. It would've been good to see it follow up from the original music video - or something a bit more standout ish. Once again, another Moe Musa visual that doesn't have that "wow" factor. 

Nevertheless Patoranking and Tiwa Savage make some good music together, Tiwa even samples Chaka Demus & Pliers ‘Bam Bam’ lyrics in her verse. Patoranking is steadily making his way into the hearts and ears of music lovers with his back to back hits. Only a matter of time before he finds himself at the top with the big dawgs.

From Sophie and Ekene getting tested, to Weki revealing to his football team members he's HIV positive, to Princess and Tobi's relationship on the rocks and Nii and Malaika going through whatever it is they're going through. Just know that this episode is a gateway to an amazing series finale that awaits us next week.

‘Shuga Naija’ Series 3, Episode 7 ‘Three Month Window’ episode synopsis:

Weki (Olumide Oworu) goes for his trial at the Football Academy, while Sophie (Dorcas Shola Fapson) and Ekene (Okezie Morro) go for their 3 month test.  Tobi (Timini Egbuson) tries to patch it up with Princess (Sharon Ezeamaka), but she is arguing with Sophie and preoccupied with Solomon (Sani Mu'azu).

New Music: Sarkodie - Ordinary Love ft. Tiwa Savage

Sarkodie and Tiwa Savage team up for a brand new song ‘Ordinary Love’, off Sarkodie's fourth studio album ‘Sarkology’.

The head-bopping song sees Sarkodie - one of Ghana's most respected rappers, rap about his love for his woman in his native language. With Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage blessing the hook and bridge of the song also expressing her love for her man.

This duo somewhat reminds me of American artists Nelly and Kelly Rowland on their hit 2002 single ‘Dilemma’, with this one just being the Ghana and Naija link up!

As the weeks go by, Shuga gets more and more interesting. This week focused on each character in the ds how and even has a cameo appearance from Nigerian rapper - Ice Prince. This week my attention drew more to Malaika and her brutal marriage with her husband Nii — very upsetting to see a very intelligent woman of her kind go through such heartache, I hope she leaves him and soon. 

Oh yeah and Shuga fans - an original member is back — Leo! He flew in from Nairobi to hook up a few business deals and meetings and visit his boy Femi. Weki does a runner from his mother Sade, who has absolutely no whereabouts of where his disappeared to. Amist it all Princess and Tobi getting really close in this episode! Juicyyyy!!!! 

With only 3 more episodes until series 3 finishes. We can only imagine of what's left to come in ‘Shuga Naija’.

Tobi (Timini Egbuson) and Princess (Sharon Ezeamaka) are joyful in their new-found love, while Malaika (Leonora Okine) and Nii’s (Chris Attoh) marriage lurches deeper into crisis, Weki (Olumide Oworu) and Sade’s (Tiwa Savage) relationship deteriorates, and Femi (Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyi) and Foye (Maria Okanrende) try to sort through their difficulties. Another week, another drama filled episode of ‘Shuga Naija’, just how we like it! Tiwa Savage who plays Sade has a major role in this episode, and who knew she was a mother to a high school student named Weki?

High school student Weki (Olumide Oworu) gets good news which impresses his mother Sade (Tiwa Savage) so why is she being so strict with him? Meanwhile Sophie (Dorcas Shola Fapson) and Ekene (Okezie Morro) go to get tested for HIV and realise they need to tell Foye (Maria Okanrende) who they have also put at risk – but will Ekene do the right thing?

[Watch] - ‘Shuga Naija’ Series 3, Episode 1 ‘Home Coming’

Last night in London, I was privileged to attend the series 3 premiere of ‘Shuga’, and trust me - it's the best season yet.

At the premiere held in Renoir Cinema in Russell Square, we were welcomed with drinks and a little networking - as well as a step and repeat backdrop to take pictures and even meet the cast! When we were eventually seated in the cinema - we watched the first four episodes of series 3 - which we thoroughly enjoyed - we laughed, and said our "awwws", and even our "ooh's" cos some scenes are hella shocking! Lol. Just before we all exited the building to have a chit chat about the show and network again - the ‘Shuga’ team - (director) - Biyi Bandele and a few members of the cast - Okezie Morro who plays ‘Ekene’, and Dorcas Fapson who plays ‘Sophie’ sat down to answer a few interesting questions, lol! 'Twas a good night.

The two previous series set in Nairobi, Kenya - this one was set in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria. Shuga called on ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ movie director - Biyi Bandele to direct the eight episodes in this series. And he does a fantastic job at it.

‘Shuga’ Summary:
‘Shuga is an award-winning sex and relationships drama and multimedia campaign designed to combat a lack of awareness and misinformation about HIV, sexual responsibility and teen pregnancy among Nigerian youth.’

This series brings us an all star cast including Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyi who was in the previous series set in Nairobi, as well as some familiar faces - Maria Okanrende, Tiwa Savage, Okezie Morro, Chris Attoh, Nick Mutuma, Leonara Okine, and some new faces to our TV screen - Dorcas Fapson, Sharon Ezeamaka, Timini Egbuson, Olumide Oworu and so much more. Afrobeats artists - Ice Prince and Iyanya make cameo appearances, as well as a few others.

As we remember the 153 people that died on the Dana Airplane crash in Nigeria, singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage debuts the video to "Olorun Mi". This video is simply a tribute to all those who have passed away, in this touching new visuals directed by George Guise for Visionaire Pictures. In this new video "Olorun Mi", Tiwa remembers a lot of people who have impacted all Nigeria in one way or another. May all their souls rest in peace.

Tiwa will debut her first studio album "Once Upon a Time" on June 14.

The very beautiful Tiwa Savage is finally ready to release her debut album and I couldn't be more excited! Pictured above is the album cover of the beautiful singer signed to MAVIN records to her debut album "Once Upon A Time".

Over the weekend in Nigeria, Tiwa who recently got engaged held an album listening party with all the big names in the industry. 

And now her fans can check out what songs will appear on her new album. Of course her singles "Kele Kele", "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me", Ife Wa Gbona and "Without My Heart" featuring Don Jazzy will appear on the 21-track-album. This video took waaaay to long to come out...

Two of Mavin Records very own - Tiwa Savage and Don Jazzy bring the heat in this new video to 'Without My Heart'. The video to this upbeat song was directed by Mark Hofmeyr in South Africa earlier this month.

Tiwa whose album is still yet to be released recently got engaged to her manager - Tee Billz at her birthday party this February - congratulations to them both.

Even though this video is different than what I'd usually expect from Savage - I like the fact that she went out of her comfort zone. I would have like to see more choreographed dancing though.
