[Exclusive Interview]: Dr Sid Dishes on Married Life: ‘I'm More Settled and I'm More Focused’, The MAVINS & More!

Earlier this month I caught up with the super talented Dr Sid, whilst he was making his promo rounds in London. The singer-songwriter chatted it up with me on being in the game for 10 years, being nominated for a MOBO Award, married life, the MAVINS and so much more. 

So without further ado - read all what we spoke about in the interview below. 

New Video: MAVINS - Dorobucci

Last week the MAVINS unveiled their highly-anticipated to their single ‘Dorobucci’. Led by Don Jazzy, the single features Reekado Banks, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, Di'Ja and D'Prince.

Shot on location in South Africa, the Nick Molotov-directed visuals captures each artists definition of the word ‘Dorobucci’ and even features a cameo appearance of the winner of the Channel O MAVIN super-fan competition.

[Trailer] - New Video: MAVINS - Dorobucci

Jam-packed into 16 seconds is the official trailer to the highly-anticipated music video to ‘Dorobucci’, from the MAVINS.

The music video sees Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, D'Prince, Korede Bello, Di'Ja and Reekado Banks all appear in the Nick Roux-directed clip set to premiere on Channel O Africa on July 22 at 12noon (Nigerian time). 

Shot in South Africa, head boss of The MAVINS took to his Instagram page to announce the premiere of the video with the caption stating: "#DoroAnnouncement The official video for TheMegaSuper hit record #Dorobucci premieres tomorrow on @ChanelOAfrica at 12:00pm NG time. Let's go!!! #MAVIN #323 #WeUp".

The song on it's own is huge, from seeing people make up their own dance moves to it, and doing their own covers - a contestant who auditioned on the latest season of Project Fame West even done his own rendition of the song, which made it's way around social media within hours since it hit the web - watch HERE.

New Video: Fresh L - Mind Yourself ft. BOJ & Dr Sid

DRB member and rapper Fresh L has unveiled the visuals to his 2013 summer single ‘Mind Yourself’. 

‘Mind Yourself’ is one of the many hits from Fresh L including ‘Hennessy Angel’ as well as appearing on band-member BOJ's ‘Mrs Officer’ track.

Featuring DRB front man - BOJ, on the track who blesses it with a really catchy hook - Fresh L also calls on Mavin Records recording artist Dr Sid, who drops a singing-rap verse on the song.

Shot in London by director Sayo King, ‘Mind Yourself’ is a fun and flirty song and has a fun and flirty music video to go with it.

Fresh L has a lot more in store for us this year visually, as a solo artist and with DRB!

New Video: Dr Sid - Surulere ft. Don Jazzy

Mavin Records recording artist Dr Sid has unveiled the visuals to his most recent and loved single ‘Surulere’. 

The single was released in the last quarter of 2013 and has become one of Dr Sid's most biggest songs yet. Don Jazzy features on the original version of this track, as well as appearing in the music video, and appearing on the remix alongside Wizkid and rapper Phyno.

The video tells a story of a young couple who find it difficult to have a baby, and despite pressure from the extended family stay together and finally conceive. 

The video stars Funke Akindele, Helen Paul and Blosson Chukwujekwu.

New Video: Dr Sid - Talented

Dr Sid's ‘Siduction’ album is underway, and in the meantime he has released the video for ‘Talented’ produced by Don Jazzy.

On one of his many trips to London during the Summer, he shot the video with director Moe Musa and the video features London based D3 Dancers. 

Hmm.. This video seems like a video that I've seen earlier on this year...

Toolz Interviews Dr Sid on ‘The Juice’

Mavin records recording artist Dr. Sid slides onto ‘The Juice’ couch this week and spills the beans on the budding romance in his life, his plans for world "Siduction" and featuring Michelle Obama in his music video....? Mavin man, lover and all around good guy. Ladies and Gentlemen, take your seats. The Love Dr is in the house and he is on The Juice.

New Video: Dr Sid - Love Mine

Chocolate lover Dr Sid indulges us with this new video for his single ‘Love Mine’. Dr Sid flew out to London for the shooting of this music video, where he expresses his love for his lady. Produced by Don Jazzy, ‘Love Mine’ will appear on Sid's forthcoming new album ‘Siduction’. The video was directed by newly award winning director Moe Musa.

New Music: Dr Sid - Talented

The Mavins' consistency is like no other African artists these days - they release a new song like everyday! This time from Dr Sid with "Talented" it's as if they take it in turns, D'Prince one day, Dr Sid the other, Wande Coal the next. Only if it was with Tiwa Savage as well..

As always this new song was produced by "original producer" Don Jazzy. "Talented" is the third single off of Dr Sid's sophomore album "Siduction". 

New Music: Dr Sid - Love Mine

Some more new music from MAVIN artist - Dr Sid with this new song titled 'Love Mine'. No word if the Dr Sid is prepping to release an album/mixtape or EP with the way he keeps on releasing new music - but we're loving his consistency.

'Love Mine' was once again produced by super-producer Don Jazzy.

New Music: Dr Sid - Lady Don Dada

Mavin signee - Dr Sid dropped his brand new single 'Lady Don Dada' just a couple days after he premiered the official remix to 'Chocolate', which featured some West African allstars. 'Lady Don Dada' was produced by Don Jazzy.

New Music: Dr Sid - Chocolate (West African Remix) ft. Sarkodie, Ice Prince, EL & Lynxxx

Remember Dr Sid's single 'Chocolate' off the MAVIN compilation 'Solar Plexus' album?

Yeah, well it's now got a remix. A West African remix featuring Sarkodie, Ice Prince, EL and Lynxxx. 

Dr Sid recently even released his own chocolate line in Nigeria called 'Indulge', there's no word on if he'll be releasing a full-length album/mixtape or EP but for now listen and enjoy the remix to 'Chocolate' produced by Don Jazzy.

New Music: Ajebutter22 - Gbono ft. Dr Sid

I can't act as if I'm feeling this song, because I'm not. The two previous singles that Ajebutter22 released 'Senrene' and 'Omo Pastor' was love to my ears, this new one 'Gbono' - I'm not so much a fan of it as of yet!

The song was produced by Ajebutter's in-house producer StudioMagic and features Mavin records' artist Dr Sid. I don't know if the song is still yet to grow on me, or what it is - but there's my two cents on it.

New Video: Ajebutter22 - Omo Pastor ft. Boj

This is THE song! One of the hottest songs in Afrobeats in history!

For those of you who may not understand what 'Omo Pastor' means - it means 'Pastors Child'.

Ajebutter22 and Boj of DRB LasGidi really went in on this song, which makes sense from start to finish (sorry if you don't understand Yoruba).

Finally the video is here which was directed by Sesan (D'Banj Oliver Twist) and shot in Nigeria. I was really hoping that they'd capture the beauty of the lyrics in this new video and making it more of a short movie - telling the story from beginning to end - but instead they took another little twist on it. 

The video stars - Seyi Shay (Omo Pastor), Basketmouth (Pastor), Dr Sid (Deacon), Boj (Choir Master), and K9.

It's not a video that I was too crazy about, but I like they're creativity - other than that enjoy the video from Ajebutter22. 

Boj's voice is a one of a kind, if you haven't noticed by now!

Yesterday, I blogged about about Don Jazzy's new record label 'Mavin Records', in that blog post I stated  how the record label is coming out with a compliation album the next day.

Don Jazzy - Introducing: Mavin Records

Introducing 'Mavin Records'. 

Just when you thought that it was all over for some of the former Mo'Hits crew labelmates, owner Don Jazzy striked back with new record label Mavin Records; pron = 'May'vin' meaning = 'Someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field'.
