Africa's Biggest Festival ‘Gidi Festival’ Returns! Davido, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade to Headline

Africa's biggest festival ‘Gidi Festival’ returns for its third year. The annual festival bought to you by Eclipse Live Africa is a one-day beach festival with day activities ranging from beach sports headed by celebrity team captains, to tasting the very best of African dishes at the food court, and of course live music from some of Africa's best artists.

Held at Eko Atlantic Beach in Lagos, Nigeria ‘Gidi Festival’ has seen acts from across the African continent hit the stage including: Ice Prince, Burna Boy, Falz from Nigeria, Tanzania's Vanessa Mdee, Kenya's Victoria Kimani and Ghana's EL and Efya to mention.

The third edition is projected to clock in 8,000 festival goers whilst the previous years have seen an attendance of 3,500 (2014) and 5,000 (2015) attendees.

Speaking on the third edition of ‘Gidi Festival’, founder Chin Okeke says, “we are really excited to be back this year, having learned a lot from previous editions. We genuinely feel this one is going to put us on the global festival map and show the world that Lagos is the continent's melting pot for music and culture.” He went on to say, “it's about curating an experience for our people so there are some exciting upgrades that will surprise our guests!”

Akon to Headline Dance Afrique's ‘Summer Fest’, Yemi Alade & Mafikizolo to Also Perform

R&B/Pop superstar and multi-platinum selling artist Akon will take to the stage along with other superstar acts as he headlines Dance Afrique's ‘Summer Fest’ in London this August.

The concert presented by Solution Media and Infotech will take place at the London's famous SSE Wembley Arena on Friday, 28th August, kicking off the carnival weekend festivities. And follows up from a successful Dance Afrique concert back in March of this year.

Known for his hits ‘Locked Up’, ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’, ‘Smack That’ and ‘Lonely’ to name a few out of a long list, Akon released five brand new singles earlier this year off his fourth studio album ‘Stadium’, which eyes a late 2015 release.

In 2014, Akon started the ‘Akon Lighting Africa’ project which provides electricity in 15 countries of Africa, and aims to launch more in further 11 countries by the end of 2016. Kudos to you Akon! This is huge!!!

Joining Akon at the SSE Wembley Arena are African superstars Mafikizolo ‘Khona’ and Yemi Alade ‘Johnny’ who will be performing on the night, Capital Xtra's Kojo will be the host of the event and DJ Edu on the turntables. Special guests to also grace the stage, and to be announced soon.

Akon is set to perform classics by him that we all love as well as unreleased material ahead of the release of his new album, ‘Stadium’.

Gidi Culture Festival 2015 (Lineup + Need To Know Information!)

Africa's biggest beach festival is back for a second year running, and with a star-studded lineup.

Slated to hold at Eko Atlantic, the team behind Gidi Culture Festival have announced the lineup and all the details festival-goers need to know for the festival.

Saturday, 4th April, 2015 will see both local and international artists and DJs take to the stage in Lagos, Nigeria at the second edition of Gidi Culture Festival. 

After a successful first year with acts such as Ice Prince, Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking, Reminisce, Tekno, Phyno and more to take to the stage - it's only right for GCF to come back bigger and better.

From 12 noon to dawn at Eko Atlantic beach in Lagos, festival-goers can enjoy a full day of activities, including: beach soccer tournaments, beach volleyball tournaments, where they'll even have a chance to play against/with their favourite celebrities. Not stopping there, there is also a fun-zone, an art installation provided by Fayrouz, a day stage with live band and DJs and a variety of food from all over Nigeria.

With an exciting lineup of Nigeria's best artists - M.I., Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Sean Tizzle, Iyanya and more as well as DJ's alongside Africa's finest from Ghana, Congo, South Africa, Kenya and Rwanda, Gidi Culture Festival 2015 is an event not to be missed.

[Exclusive]: Yemi Alade Talks Success of ‘Johnny’, ‘Kings of Queens’ Album and More!

Back in August, I – Mobolaji; photographed above, caught up with singer Yemi Alade during her media tour to London, for an exclusive interview for It's Just Mobolaji.

The singer/songwriter chatted it up at a video shoot she was doing for a song she's featured on – ‘Loving About You’, by rapper Lil Flow, in East London. 

Yemi Alade and I spoke on the success of her single ‘Johnny’ - which she didn't expect for it to be as successful as it is now. Her new album ‘Kings of Queens’, and why she decided to title it that and many more other things.

New Music: Yemi Alade - Kissing

Musical powerhouse Yemi Alade has unveiled her new single ‘Kissing’, off her hotly anticipated debut album ‘Kings of Queens’. 

Produced by Fliptyce, the love song is all types of sweet and will have one gushing from it's opening lines. The groovy mid-tempo track is the third official single off Yemi's new album and follows up from her hits ‘Tangerine’ and the critically acclaimed ‘Johnny’, which cemented her position as a major force in the African music scene. 

Yemi Alade's debut LP will be released in the coming weeks, look out for that and for her exclusive interview with It's Just Mobolaji also out shortly.

Seyi Shay Puts On A Thrilling Star-Studded Unplugged Show in Lagos! [Photos]

‘Irawo’ crooner Seyi Shay keeps the momentum going, coming off the back of her ‘Murda’ single release and unveiling the official music video back in June.

Seyi Shay headlined ‘Seyi Shay Unplugged’ show in Lagos presented by Industry Nite & J-Management on Wednesday evening, and please believe she served and delivered a show like no other. Her band as well looked prim and proper! Mm, I'm loving Seyi Shay's team!

Putting on an intimate, yet energetic live band performance for the cheering audience - guests like D'Banj, Waje, Banky W, Olisa, Sasha P, Sound Sultan, Bez and more were all in attendance to support the currently trailblazing singer/performer, whilst Yemi Alade, Chidinma, Vector, Niyola, Patoranking, Shaydee, Boj, Young Greyc all graced the stage with DJ Spinall on the ones and twos and MC Jimmie hosting the show.

New Music: Yemi Alade - Ghen Ghen Love (Remix) ft. Ice Prince & Sasha P

After the success of her smash hit, "Ghen Ghen Love", Nigerian Pop/R&B diva Yemi Alade teams up with Chocolate City'svery own superstar Ice Prince and Nigerian Hip-Hop's First Lady Sasha P to create this excellent new remix of the 2012 single, produced by the veteran OJB Jezreel.

The remix which is Yemi Alade’s first original material to be released this year was recently premiered on a LIVE Google+ Hangout by Yemi Alade herself along with Ice Prince and Sasha P as well as the likes of Eva Alordiah, Flowssick, Jaywon and bloggers Ogagus and Olorisupergal.
