Monique Releases Debut EP ‘The Gift’

Following on from the success of her well-received comeback single ‘The Gift’, Birmingham's very own singer, songwriter and producer Monique is proud to release her brand new debut EP of the same name ‘The Gift’.

Inspired by her pregnancy and the joy of embracing motherhood, which birthed its title track ‘The Gift’, Monique's new 5-track EP, in her own words, "explores the theme of time and moments in a world that moves so fast that we rarely stand in the present. There are moments that bring us face to face with ourselves and others that are willing us to take a look in the mirror. To stop and consider our course of just to simply enjoy, be thankful and content."

Hoping to leave listeners with overriding questions, "what would happen if we chose to live in the present?", "what if we dared to live without fear of  tomorrow?", "what would happen if we gave our all today?", this record is more than a creative reflection of where Monique is as an artist in 2015, it is a statement of her personal journey to self acceptance, and a call for fans and critics to stand in the present with her, even if for the eighteen minutes, it takes to listen to ‘The Gift’.

Soul Singer-Songwriter Monique Unveils New Single ‘The Gift’

The breath of fresh air that is Monique, has unveiled her brand new single ‘The Gift’ and it is surely a gift. 

Pleasant to the ears of listeners, British soul singer-songwriter Monique's new record was inspired by the life changing moment when she became pregnant in July 2014 and an ode to her unborn son.

The release of ‘The Gift’ also comes with the announcement of her comeback EP of the same name, and her first record in two years. 

Expected to deliver her son on April 28, Monique is not only going to be receiving her very own gift of new life, but also sharing a gift with fans and supporters of her music, as she is set to release her long awaited EP ‘The Gift’ on the same date.

‘The Gift’ is so much more than just a comeback single for Monique, and in her own words, “in this moment I was being gifted with a child. The course of my future had been changed in one night! I later got in touch with my very talented friend Lauren Ray to help me complete the writing of the song, which speaks about the miracle of the present and this new life I am preparing to enjoy”.

“People warned me about getting pregnant and the detrimental effect it could have on my career”, Monique continues about ‘The Gift’, “this made me anxious and reluctant at times to embrace motherhood, despite my desire for a family. Now, that anxiety no longer remains. Instead I am honoured to have this opportunity and am expectant of the joys being a parent will bring despite the challenges”.
