She's Back! Lola Rae Returns With 2015 Debut ‘You Know What My Name Is’ (& Announces New Management Deal)

‘You Know What My Name Is’... Yes, we surely do!

Singer Lola Rae is back and she has cemented herself into 2015, with a new hard hitting record ‘You Know What My Name Is’.

Ready to shake up the industry, Lola Rae who is known for her 2012 hit single ‘Watch My Ting Go’, has returned to music after an 18 month hiatus from the scene, and it's sounding like she means business with her new record.

Produced by her partner in crime, and in-house producer P2J, Lola Rae makes a statement with ‘You Know What My Name Is’, where she sings about bringing the heat this year, and her name being the only name you'll hear all round.

The London and Lagos based singer has also inked a management deal with Twenty20 Media Limited, home to HKN Music artists: Davido, B Red and Sina Rambo, which she announced alongside her new single ‘You Know What My Name Is’, earlier today.

‘You Know What My Name Is’ sounds like Lola's intro song to the new year, and the introduction to her new sassy sound that she's already unleashed onto us.

With that being said, it'll be interesting to see what Lola Rae will be bringing to the music scene this year. No need for an introduction, but just in case you may have forgotten who she is or what her name is, press play on the video below, for a brief reminder.

New Video: Lola Rae - Fi Mi Le ft. Iyanya

Last week we bought you the behind the scenes photos and footage of Lola Rae's second official video to ‘Fi Mi Le’, and today sees the unveiling of her hard work.

‘Fi Mi Le’ which was originally a leak, was loved so much by fans and supporters that it was pinned as a single and is the official follow-up single from her much loved debut ‘Watch My Ting Go’.

Featuring Iyanya, Lola Rae and her creative team bring us a new and exciting video shot in West London and is a Tatenda Jamera directed clip. Both embracing their African culture Lola Rae and Iyanya are seen in vintage-inspired clothing, Ankara prints and more colour popping pieces of clothing. The whole African concept of the video reminds me somewhat of the Yoruba's in Nigeria back in the 1980's.

Lola Rae and Iyanya's on screen chemistry is amazing to watch, this video is a fun and lovable one. Don't you just love Lola Rae?

Iyanya just won't leave Lola Rae alone in this new video. Watch how it all goes down below!

Behind The Scenes Of: Lola Rae's ‘Fi Mi Le’ Video Shoot featuring Iyanya [Video + Photos]

But in true Lola Rae form, she reveals the behind the scenes video and photos from the video shoot and all the fun stuff that happened on the day. All could not have been done alone though, the video was directed by Tatenda Jamera, produced by Niyi Folarin, creative director/stylist - Jason Boateng (who slays Lola Rae all the damn time) and Beyond Retro, makeup by Chantelle James and MAC cosmetics. Last but not least - hair done by the lovely Lady-Yvonne Coleman and provided by Whitney Marie UK!

Get an exclusive insight to the behind the scenes of Lola Rae's ‘Fi Mi Le’ video, out next week!

New Video: TeeJay - Work ft. Lola Rae

To say that TeeJay and Lola Rae "delivered" with this video will surely be an understatement...

Last week TeeJay unveiled his new single ‘Work’ which got critical acclaim and rave reviews from fans and critics. Yesterday, saw him share the visuals to the smooth and sultry collaboration featuring Lola Rae. And boy, this video is quality!

The upcoming star TeeJay called on visual director - Tatenda Jamera, to bring his creative vision to life for ‘Work’. Shot in location in a vintage 19th Century house in London, the ‘Work’ visuals add a new dimension to the chemistry between TeeJay and Lola Rae.

You cannot deny their talent or their chemistry, which they portray extremely well in both the audio and video to ‘Work’. Everything from the house, to the quality of the camera to the styling (even though I wish Lola Rae wore one mean vintage couture outfit that would have just scattered the surface and make people think how did she pull this one out of the bag) - this is easily one of the best music videos out this year thus far.

Produced by P2J, ‘Work’ shows off TeeJay's versatility and artistry - proving why he's one to watch and one of the future stars of R&B music in Africa. Time and time again Lola Rae does no wrong, for an independent artist - she is actually killing the game.

New Music: Boj - Ginger ft. Lola Rae

I love this collaboration of Boj from DRB LasGidi and rising superstar Lola Rae. The duo got together on this new track 'Ginger' produced by Studio Magic (Ajebutter22's "Omo Pastor").

This is the second single off Boj's brand new mixtape - 'Boj on the Microphone' which he plans to release sometime this year. Boj and Lola Rae make some sweet music together.

It would have been soo nice to hear Lola Rae sing in Yoruba on this type of track. Beautiful song either way.

New Video: Lola Rae - Watch My Ting Go

Remember that hot singer that I blogged about in November - Lola Rae? Well, the bombshell has dropped a bomb on us with this new video to her single 'Watch My Ting Go', one of two that she released.

This video just dropped literally minutes ago and has already got twitter buzzing!!

Lola Rae has just been doing her thing since the two singles premiered - and even done an interview with BBC Africa - and it gets better - she hit the highest hits ever for a non-political story (watch here). Rae, also got radio airplay in both Lagos on Fade Ogunro's 'Liquid Lounge' show on The Beat 99.9 FM and 'Watch My Thing Go' received it's first UK airplay on DJ Edu's BBC 1XTRA 'Destination Africa Show'

If that's not winning, I don't know what is then...

Dance with the former Britain's Got Talent finalist in her new video 'Watch My Ting' which features cameo appearances from UK Comedian - Don't Jealous Me (Tolu Ogunmefun), Kukere Master - Iyanya and his Triple MG label mate - Emma Nyra and a sexy sassy dance routine from the lovely CEO Dancers.

It may be just the beginning for Lola Rae, but she is doing it like a pro... You better werk now! *snaps fingers*

New Video: Ice Prince - More (Starring Lola Rae)

Ah, Ice Prince's new videos and new music have just all been 10/10!!

Starring artist - Lola Rae (who I blogged about yesterday) plays Ice Prince's love interest in his new video "More"- produced by Chopstix (producer of Ice Prince's other hit single "Aboki"). Lola Rae is not only a good artist but a good actress, the arguing scenes in this video are tense; both Ice Prince & Lola Rae did a fantastic job in this Moe Musa directed video. The video was shot in South-West London.

Introducing... Lola Rae + 2 New Singles "High" and "Watch My Ting Go"

When I first heard about Lola Rae, my first question was "who is Lola Rae?" then thanks to some very good friends - I found out.

21 year old, Lola Rae (Rachel Funmilola Garton) is a British singer of Nigerian/Ghanaian and British heritage. The young upcoming singer who gained national recognition as a dancer in the street dance group "Myztikal" that competed in competitions such a GWI Street Dance Champions 2008: U18 Champions and even in ITV's hit show Britain's Got Talent in 2010.

Rae's singing was that good that then-judge of the show - Simon Cowell singled her out at both the auditions and semi-finals of the show where later-on an offer that many dream of came across her path. Lola Rae had been offered to audition for Syco (Simon Cowell's record label).

Instead she decided that it would be better for her if she benefited from finding out who she was as an artist and deciding on what she wanted to be - instead of people creating an image for her - good on you Lola Rae!

With a jazzy/soulful sound accompanying her pretty face - Lola Rae recently starred in Ice Prince Zamani's most recent video to his single "More", where Ms Rae was the main character - playing the Ice Prince's love interest.

Lola Rae who is often compared to artists such as the late greats - Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse doesn't box herself into the typical jazz and soul image she created for herself - the versatility in her voice and sound should not be put in one simple category.

Has Lola Rae created her own genre of music?

Lola Rae who worked with producer - P2J has released her first two official singles an upbeat tempo single titled "Watch My Ting Go" (which I've been singing non-stop since the day I heard it) as well as a more calm sultry single "High" featuring rapper - Bridge (from the group L.O.S.).

Now that you officially know who this singing sensation is, enjoy her two new singles "Watch My Ting Go" and "High".
